A few Fridays ago after most physician offices had already closed I decided I needed to go to the Emergency Department. I had been under the weather the majority of the week and things had taken a turn for the worse. I will spare you the details (other than the fact that I had a really great, detail-oriented doctor who, though I hope none of you find yourselves in the ED and I guess you really can’t pick your ED doctor, I would recommend in a heartbeat), but what I realized is the person who walked into Rush’s ED was not the person I used to be. And, if I’m completely honest with myself, I hadn’t been myself for awhile.
Luckily, it was a relatively short trip (thought I’m not sure my husband and mom would agree…) and didn’t result in an admission so I was home that evening and immediately starting thinking about what I needed to do to get back to good. One of the first things that came to mind was blogging. I will never claim to be a world-class writer, but putting things down on a page has always been therapeutic for me so I decided to give this another go. I’m making a lot of other life changes, which I imagine I’ll chronicle here. One thing I do know for sure is that I’m committed to living a happier, less stressful life which, in turn, will keep me healthy and out of any more EDs and doctors’ offices!
