The idea to start blogging again was actually Patrick’s. We were brainstorming things I could do that would help me unwind and slow down. He was one of the few readers of my first blog and suggested I give it another go. Once the decision was made to do just that, I needed a name. Thanks go to Patrick once again! He initially suggested Peonies, Please; however it was taken and, for whatever reason, I had Pink Peonies in my head so I decided to combine them and that’s how Pink Peonies, Please was made!
It probably does not come as a surprise that peonies make me happy (what girl doesn’t love peonies?); however, honestly, flowers, in general, make me happy. Flowers in vases, flowers on my balcony, flowers on other peoples’ balconies (just ask my friend Margaret about all the pictures I took of geraniums in Poland…) flowers in nature, I love them all. So when our wedding florist offered a floral arrangement class I immediately checked my calendar and signed myself and my mom up!
Lynn of Pollen Floral Design spent a Sunday morning stepping us through how to select, arrange, and care for our arrangements. Watching her put together an arrangement confirmed for me why she does what she does. What talent!
And though I do not see wedding floral design in my future, I have to say I have really enjoyed my Saturday morning Farmers’ Market trips to pick out 2-3 bouquets from which I put together an arrangement for our dining room table.
It’s a fun, creative, and therapeutic process that I look forward to each week (this past weekend the florists weren’t at the market so I experimented with several different types of flowers from Mariano’s; I think it turned out well!)!
