My March Madness

I know I could come up with plenty of excuses – I lost my dad, I got married, I’m in school, I just started a new job and am now trying to figure out my new routine – like I said, plenty of excuses, but, excuses aside, I have neglected my physical body over the last couple of years (I think I would go so far as to say the last two years). And, rather than continue to complain and feel sorry for myself, I am going to set some goals for the month of March and use this outlet as a means by which to hold myself accountable.

After feeling a little uninspired with my former work-out routine, I opted to try ClassPass, which I initially really liked. I loved the variety and chance to try different studios. However, what I am finding is that I really cherish the community-effect of belonging to a gym or studio, and I need a consistent routine (as in I know I can get into a class M-W-F or T-TH depending on my work schedule). So, in the month of March I am going to take advantage of Shred415‘s (one of the studios I frequented while using ClassPass) new member unlimited monthly membership. Here’s my plan:

  • Attend three Shred415 classes per week. I’ll shoot for M-W-F knowing that I will most likely have to make some changes due to early meetings at work. And now that I don’t have class on Saturdays this quarter I can take advantage of Saturday morning classes!
  • Continue with my 2016 goal of practicing yoga at least three times per week at Barefeet Power Yoga.
  • Continue to eat well. Patrick and I already do a pretty good job of making healthy meals at home, but, as with most things, can always do better.

I’m even thinking about taking before and after pictures and creating a board on which I can place stickers (I am highly motivated by showing my accomplishments with stickers…I’m not sure what that says about me…I’ll go with I’m young at heart…) as I meet my goals throughout the month of March. Here’s to a healthier and happier 2016!
